It operates under the IUIN Constitution, alongside the Companies Act No. 1 of 2012 and the Union’s Incorporation Regulation of 2012.

IUIN offers a robust membership structure that includes:

- Individual and Academic institution members engaged in intellectual, e-learning, and scholarly activities.

- An affiliate base comprising both academic and non-academic institutions.

- A Management Committee with up to ten  elected/nominated members, representing both individual and institutional members.

These governance frameworks are designed to:

- Ensure IUIN remains a transparent and democratic organization that authentically reflects its members’ perspectives.

- Facilitate diverse input on policy and management from across the membership base.

- Encourage active participation from all members in management and decision-making processes.

IUIN holds an annual general meeting each calendar year, along with additional general meetings as needed. During these gatherings, members confirm the minutes of previous meetings, receive updates from the Management Committee and Secretariat on IUIN's activities, review financial statements, and elect Management Committee members and office-bearers. Minutes from past meetings are accessible in the Members-only section of our website.
